(abstract) Although freestyle skier Matt Reardon gave his name for the band „Reardon“, he's not alone involved in the project. Since 2002 Reardon is a full band: Joern Kachelriess, Matthias Borst, Anton Curths, Andi Dick and of course Matt Reardon. For over two years they're playing together now, the result is hard, but very melodic rock'n'roll. ...

Skiing - the next level 04.2003 | Germany
Some will know the name Matt Reardon, but most of them would rather expect him on other pages of this magazine. If you have ever been to Chamonix you might have had the chance to see Matt live in concert there. And then you also know him as a great musician and performer. The now released debut album 'Free From Code' offers a few reminiscences to Matt's life as a pro freeskier, starting from cover artwork to the song titles to the sound of the recording. It shows that there's a tight connection between freeskiing and lifestyle. But it also raises the question, if Matt will rather pursue his career as a musician in the near future. The record is really good, professionally produced and can be measured with a lot of well known names in the fields of rock. It shows some parallels to Pearl Jam, but the strong second half of the album with acoustic parts and anthem-like ballads reminds more od legends like Mother Love Bone. This is meant as an honour. Buy it, even if you're more a music- than a skiing fan.

"Sitting at your desk, playing air guitar, shaking your head like a headbanger and kicking imaginary drum pedals. Looks stupid, but that doesn't matter as long as Reardon's debut album rotates in your cd player. Rock without endless leads and longhairy posers. Simply great music matched with Matt Reardon's impressive voice, which Eddie Veder from Pearl Jam really would have needed on his last album."

"It is a fact, that bored actors every now and then record an allbum, maybe to make some money, But why also (free-)skiers... well, doesn't matter, as long as the result is right and "Free from Code" is very right! At first I thought Ok, another New Rock album, but somehow I listened to it over and over again. Because Matt Reardon wrote a line of rockin' catchy tunes you easily get addicted to. Timeless tunes to relax, hav fun, kiss and have fun. Finally an alternative after all the gargeling, blurbing, roaring! With "Further", "Take Me Down" and "Clouded View" Matt has some real hits on his debut, which I really would like to recommend to you. And opposite to most actors this guy really can sing and he's got a great voice! The unplugged version of "Further" proves this best. ... ...And I would like to like to recommend you the band's well made Flash homepage ..." (thank you! the webmaster ;-)

Matt loves it, when it's kickin'
Gauting - Matt looks like somebody from a Red Bull advertising: cool hair-do, cool blue eyes and the coolest sunglasses. But he is more than this. He is a professional freeskier, seen in breathtaking sequences on numerous ski movies and commercials. And he loves singing and plying his accoustic guitar after photoshooting. For almost two years now he is working together witch producer and guitarist Joern Kachelriess, recording songs for his debut album. It all started with the song "Further", which was used in the French ski film "Nuit de la Glisse". Now, as a band named Reardon they present their debut album "Free From Code", recorded at YearningRocks Studios in Gauting/Munich. ...
...at first glance the sound of the album is dominated by typical fat heavy metal guitars. Besides Matt Joern Kachelriess and Armin Koeberl played the electric guitars. Anton Curths and Andy Dick take care of the thundering background groove. "I love it, when it's kickin'", says matt, who writes all song lyrics himself. His voice offers a wide variety of styles and a catching charisma. He was born in Louisiana, listening to Black Sabbath, Neil Young or Van Halen and of course - the blues. This is why the album also offers soft rock ballads, acoustic guitars and bluesy lyrics, telling stories about life itself. All in all an intense and emotional mix. You can hear the fun the guys had when recording.
